On October 4, 2023, Susan Crumiller accepted New York Law Journal’s Distinguished Leader award, which recognizes lawyers “who had great performances while demonstrating clear leadership skills.” She was one of few plaintiff-side attorneys honored at this year’s New York Legal Awards at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers in Manhattan.

In just seven years, Susan has grown the firm from a fledgling solo shop to a thriving legal practice with over 15 team members. The firm has become well known for representing abuse survivors in high-profile workplace disputes, #MeToo lawsuits, and cutting-edge medical malpractice litigation.

Here are some examples of work we’ve done in the last year to move the needle on social justice:

  • Won an $11.25 million verdict in a single-plaintiff race and gender discrimination trial against Equinox on behalf of fitness professional Röbynn Europe. The verdict has been hailed by legal experts as “a cautionary tale for employers”
  • Resolved high-profile claims of child sex abuse against NBCUniversal and Horatio Sanz on behalf of a fan who attended numerous Saturday Night Live after-parties in the early 2000s
  • Won the first-ever motion for anonymity in a medical malpractice lawsuit in New York State on behalf of a victim of obstetric violence
  • Filed highly publicized workplace discrimination lawsuits against Planned Parenthood and  Trader Joe’s
  • Filed multiple lawsuits under the Adult Survivors Act, providing a pathway to justice for survivors who thought they’d never have their day in court due to a statute of limitations

These are just some of the cases our clients have entrusted us with since opening the firm in 2016.

The ability to stand up against various forms of discrimination is not just our duty, it is an honor. We are in awe of our clients’ courage to stand up for themselves and seek justice in the face of adversity.
