We had a very tough case with our landlord of six years and initially went to another firm that a friend had suggested. However, my friend’s issue was very different than ours and as far as I’m concerned this firm couldn’t have been worse. After paying them a substantial retainer fee after initially a good first meeting, they dropped the ball again and again. They also always sent a different person to represent us in court on our court dates (we barely knew who our lawyer was, but it basically boiled down to who was available that day). They were impersonal and disinterested, making a lot of mistakes that ended up costing us more money. I have a basis for comparison when I say that Susan is exemplary. Thank goodness we found her! I’m only sorry we were not able to hire her first because we wasted a lot of time with inadequate lawyers who could not hold a candle to her. She competently addressed the problems that the first firm created for us and was able get up to speed with all of the confusing things that needed to be done with amazing alacrity and thoroughness.
Susan is not only a fine attorney but a very empathetic one. She always responded to my inquiry’s in a very timely manner (often within an hour when not in court) She explained the process and did so with patience when I asked layman type questions. And, the case was won, so she get’s results. Also happens to be a very nice human being.

Susan was very responsive to my case. Susan actually came to my apartment to check out the situation. I’m not sure how many lawyers would take time out of their day to check out the situation in person. She followed through with me and found services that I needed to use to solve the case.
Thorough thoughtful advice
Susan advised me on two different occasions with two different landlords, avoiding litigation in both cases.
In the first case, she talked me through my landlord’s refusal to deal efficiently with a persistent mouse problem. She helped me draft emails, advised me on memorializing in-person conversations, made sure I knew all of my options for taking action (with or without my landlord’s consent), and helped me keep my cool with a frustrating situation.
When I moved into a new apartment a few weeks ago, my new landlord decided to do a gut kitchen renovation without informing me, meaning that I could not occupy the apartment for an extra week. Susan once again talked me through emails and phone calls to resolve the situation and prorate my rent. We were able to work though the situation without going to court, which has helped me maintain a workable relation with both landlords. I don’t know what I would have done without her.
I hired Susan Crumiller to manage my negotiations with my landlord with regards to a buyout. After having lived in my rent stabilized apartment since 1991 and the landlord harassing me for a 4th time since I have been living there with yet another +a frivolous court case which had no substance and was a total lie, I told my lawyer that I wanted to get out of the apartment and to negotiate a buyout. Susan was very diligent, efficient and a tough negotiator. Susan kept me abreast of the negotiations every step of the way and also advised me when it was a good time to press hard and when it was a good time to agree to certain concessions. The negotiation started around May of 2015 and was finalized by September 2015 with a signed agreement. Not only did Susan manage to wrap up things quickly and negotiate well on my behalf, she also followed through all the way until I got my security deposit back as well as the court letter saying that the case the landlord had against was dismissed. Without hesitation, I would hire Susan again if I ever needed her services again. The most important aspect of my relationship with Susan was that she was always available to answer any concerns, questions, issues that I had and always gave me sound advise. In the end all of that paid off to my benefit.
