Introducing Kendall, a Paralegal at Crumiller. She started at the firm as an administrative assistant and transitioned into her paralegal role a few months later. We are thrilled to have her as a member of the legal team!

Role at Crumiller:

Paralegal

Favorite Book:

Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado

Hometown:

Los Angeles, California

Describe your morning routine:

I don’t really have a morning routine. I like to have a longer night routine so that I can start my day ready to go (and sleep in as late as I can).

How long have you been at Crumiller?

I have been at Crumiller since March 2023, so almost a year.

What drew you to Crumiller?

I wanted to work in law and was attracted to the smaller firm environment. I think there’s more room for personal and professional development when it’s easier to communicate and ask questions. Having studied gender and feminism and worked in reproductive justice, I also was really interested in the Survivors Law Project and the firm’s new practice areas in obstetric racism and medical discrimination.

Favorite Crumiller Memory:

Winning the Equinox trial — I was a little over two months into the job. I was sitting next to our client Röbynn Europe and watching her react to hearing the jury validating her experiences was such a powerful moment. The team worked so hard on that case, and everyone shared in that victory.

What is your favorite part of the legal process?

I really enjoy assisting the attorneys in drafting complaints. It’s always moving to speak with a client and to hear them tell their story in their own words. I also like that writing is a more creative aspect of litigation, which can be a nice contrast to some of the more technical responsibilities I have.

What would you like to accomplish in your career?

I’m still in the very early stages of being in the workforce, but ultimately, I know that I’d like to pursue further education. I love learning and reading what other people think to help me understand the world better, so I think that’s a necessary eventual next step to figuring out what the rest of my professional life will look like.

Who are some of your biggest inspirations?

My parents, definitely. They have very different career paths and have shown me different modes of success. My mom’s approach was more “by the book” while my dad took a more untraditional path, and seeing them both fulfilled in their careers and lives has demonstrated to me the values of both. They’ve been very accepting and supportive of all my dreams and ideas since I was very young, and they’re both my greatest confidantes and advisors.

What do you do in your free time?

I enjoy reading books of essays and short stories when I can make the time because they tend to be easier to pick up and start again. I like cooking different recipes I see on NYT Cooking and from my favorite TikTok chefs and food influencers. I also love scanning the homewares section in secondhand shops because I like having vintage pieces that no one else has.

Zodiac Sign

I’m a Cancer and very proud of it despite the negative stereotypes!
