Crumiller P.C. is hiring a full-time associate with 1-5 years employment litigation experience. We are a small, dynamic litigation firm whose primary focus is fighting harassment and discrimination against women at work, especially pregnancy and caregiver discrimination. We also represent NYC tenants in housing court and Supreme Court litigation.
You will report to me (Susan) exclusively, and will be responsible for handling all aspects of our litigation and pre-litigation employment matters, including consulting with new clients, negotiating, drafting administrative and litigation documents, and handling court appearances in general. You may be asked to pitch in with marketing and/or administrative tasks and to participate in networking activities. While I will train you, you must have the confidence to hit the ground running. After 3-6 months, you will likely have the opportunity to transition into helping with the landlord-tenant litigation as well. If you prove yourself capable, and you are particularly interested in other aspects of the business, I will work with you to help develop those skills.
The most important thing is that you are nice, and secondly, that you are sharp. I like to think and move fast and I need somebody who can keep up. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are paramount (we go overboard to keep clients in the loop). I am a proud feminist, progressive, working mom, and my passion is what drives me. If you can’t get on board with that, then we probably won’t be a good fit.
Crumiller P.C. is dedicated to practicing what we preach. Study after study has shown that even the most well-intentioned employers are influenced by their implicit biases. To apply, please send a cover letter and resume, in a single PDF document, via email only to email@example.com, subject “Job Application”. Replace your name, wherever it appears in the PDF, with a four digit number, and include the number in the body of your email. This will enable us to anonymously screen your application.
