It seems like it should be boatload but whichever one I choose someone corrects me.
I try pretty hard not to be obnoxious but usually don’t really succeed and this time I’m just giving in to the temptation.
This is an advertisement for The Discovery Channel that’s been around for a while, but the kids showed it to me last week. I have been playing it over and over and it just makes me so happy, and brings tears to my (admittedly easy-to-provoke) eyes every time I watch it. I hope you like it too.
I have been predicting for months that Obama is going to walk away with the election. Everyone I say that to goes “Well…I don’t know, I think it is going to be tight.”
Well, Obama is now leading by FIFTEEN POINTS in two different polls! (Newsweek and Gallup.) This is even bigger than the ten point difference I envisioned in my “Landslide?!” post.
p.s. Obama is not going to pick Hillary. He chose Patti Solis Doyle (NOT in good standing with the Clintons) to serve as the chief of staff for his VP.
Congo was euthanized today. He bit the owners elderly Mother. Read the story.
This is a pretty hilarious Youtube video about the incident.
I’m convinced!
video removed to try to fix blog.
Little Foo had been sick and was on antibiotics. Arastu came home one day and Foo was having trouble breathing. He took her to the vet who took an x-ray and said she had pneumonia and needed to go to the emergency kitty hospital. She spent a couple nights in an oxygen tank but she was not stable enough for them to do tests. Arastu went Tuesday night to check on her and she seemed to be doing ok but not much improvement. Then on Wednesday at 8am they called Arastu and said Foo wasn’t going to make it much longer. He went and saw that she was having trouble breathing and even standing up (even inside the tank at 80% oxygen), so he said ok, put her down. After they did, he got to hold her for a little bit. It was really, really sad.
We’re looking for a new sibling for Dexie, who is definitely lonely, mostly insofar as he misses having someone to attack (he has been attacking our feet constantly).
In this picture, Arastu is on his laptop.
We miss you Foo.
My niece Martha Custer will be playing with a Cleveland concert band at Central Park Jun 16th at 1:40 PM and at Carnegie Hall at 8:00Pm the 18th and in DC at the Jefferson Memorial the 22nd at 2PM. She plays the french horn and said she sits first chair right behind the bassoon players in case any of you are in the area. You may have listened to her piano duet with her daughter which was on u_tube and I think Jenny posted.
Bill Moyers spoke last night at the National Conference for Media Reform in Minneapolis. I have not watched his program despite having heard wonderful things about it, but after watching this talk, I intend to see it as much as possible (Bill Moyer’s Journal is the name, I think).
I just watched an episode of “House” where the underling finally had too much of his boss’s (Dr. House) crap and punched him in the face. In the show, this was meant to cast a good light on the person who hit because it demonstrated that he wasn’t a wimp with no self respect. But in real life, do such scenes ever happen? I’ve never ever seen anyone have any kind of “honor” fight like they do on TV and in movies. Dad has never punched anyone and I’ve asked other friends and no one I know has ever done it (I haven’t asked that many people).
I am betting $10 on Big Brown to win
Here’s a bunch of really clever advertisements. Not sure if they’re all real or not (I’ve read that the awesome Bus advertisements don’t really go live, they’re more for competitions). Either way, they’re cool.

So Obama clinched the Presidential Nomination in South Dakota by winning his required 4 delegate votes. I watched all three speeches by McCain, Clinton, and Obama. My thoughts? McCain’s speech was terrible. He’s a horrible speaker with awkward pauses (as Bush does), stupid smiles with bad teeth, and lame attempts to undermine the idea of “change” by saying that Obama’s change is bad and his change is good.
Clinton’s speech was well delivered but a huge disappointment for most people. She mostly praised her own supporters for helping her through the campaign, and she praised Obama somewhat for running a great campaign. Then she began talking about uniting the democratic party–and promptly stated she wasn’t making any decisions tonight, when what we really needed was a commitment. I know she was expecting more of the popular vote and, as I heard from one of the reporters, was actually hoping to have even a stronger case for her continuation of her campaign–but still…give us a break!
Obama’s speech was phenomenal. I might say he’s the best speaker I’ve ever heard. Not once does he look down at his script, and everything he said was delivered with a grandeur that none of the other candidates even came close to. I don’t think McCain has a chance in hell, unless Hillary somehow continues to divide the Dems with noncommittal avoidance.
I’ll post videos once they pop up on Youtube or somewhere else.
I am glad that you have the name Louise in there. It is a family tradition on the Crum side of the family. All of our pets had that name except for one. Auntie Sue got upset because we didn’t use her middle name so our cat was Bela Marie Lugosi.
Julie, do you remember the orange cat that came in our basement? No one believed me until it did it again. I think we had an open basement window. I think Jenny and Suzy were too young to remember it.
