You can download a ringtone that has Obama saying “this is Barack Obama, it’s time to change America — answer the call!” — it’s #9 — but can anyone figure out how to download it to your phone?
"Edwards went to Hunter’s room and the two left the hotel together and returned 45 minutes later, Perel said."
Huh? He sneaks into the hotel, then the two of them leave the hotel together and return 45 minutes later? Somebody needs to help out here with some kind of explanation. "Hey Rielle, don’t worry, nobody will see us leaving the hotel together, then return again shortly thereafter… together." Makes no sense.
I reported it just in case there was a rash of crime. However, I really just wanted the police to watch the shop. They said they park in my lot every night because they can use the neighbor’s Wi-Fi. So I have that going for me. Not worth an insurance claim–just an icky feeling.
Someone stole my lawnmower and a can of gas, from the shop. Now I’m worried they’re going to break in. The lawnmower was behind the shop, under the deck and no, it wasn’t locked. I thought about leaving a guard dog in the shop and then realized that it might get hurt. Plus I don’t have any barkers except Eddie, who would probably get stolen, too.
Those are some cute kitties BUT you made one strategic error. You will have orange, white and black hair everywhere. I know this from having a black and yellow Lab, duh. I recommend tweed as a wardrobe staple, and orange tufted shag carpet. Oh, and plastic slipcovers, with catnip scented carpet ends.
Here are many pictures of Susan and Arastu’s kitties. I just put all of them in a photoshop web page to make it easy without deleting bad ones or anything.
Just an occasional post to keep you up-to-date on the real world, I mean, the chess world.
If you’re part-Norwegian, you can be proud of your heritage due to the greatest phenomenon in chess since Bobby Fischer as a teenager rattled the chess world: the phenom is Magnus Carlsen.
Three years ago, Magnus earned his Grandmaster title at the age of 14. (During games he stored his teddy bear next to the chessboard.) That’s special but not overly special, because others (especially Sergey Karjakin of Ukraine) had earned the title at an even younger age.
That’s where the comparison ends. Magnus improved by leaps and bounds, breaking the 2700 super-elite mark (as Karjakin has also done.) But Magnus kept going. Settling into the company of the top Grandmasters in the world, Magnus kept improving and winning, beating Grandmasters such as Vishy Anand (current world champion), Vladimir Kramnik (immediate past world champion), Veselin Topalov (former world champion), and everybody else imaginable.
Now 17, Magnus Carlsen is #5 in the entire world — and climbing. Today he dismantled Vasily Ivanchuk, one of the all-time greats (and himself a strange and legendary character) who had just completed a performance-of-the-ages tournament with a 2977 Tournament Performance Rating, to vault himself to #3 in the world. And Magnus dismantled him today.
If this 17-year-old Norwegian isn’t the future world champion, then call me a chump.
I’m reading a book by William James Sidis III (that super-duper-uber smartest-guy-ever I mentioned before), and one of the quotes from one of his books I found pretty applicable today:
"Unfortunately, too many Americans consider the search for liberty as at an end, as if it had been secured and made safe for all time by the founding fathers."
I wonder if there are ever videos of these concerts? I would love to hear and see Susan singing.
I saw an opera this season which featured counter tenors, and I will remember the name in a cup of coffee or two. In a lecture before the opera, I learned about counter tenors, and how they used to be eunuchs however that is politically incorrect now. So my question is, how do men get a voice like that? And did you have to get over the weirdness before you could enjoy the music? Like seeing a dog meow? Or was that just me?
Susan’s musical choir, Cantori, gave a concert last night at Church of the Holy Trinity in New York City (2nd Ave and 88th Street). The concert was outstanding. Both pieces of music were based on Ovid’s epic poem Metamorphoses, and were written by Paul Crabtree (b. 1960) who was in attendance.
First came a one-movement piece recounting the story of Hermaphroditus and the nymph Salmacis. The piece featured a countertenor, which is a male singing role higher than tenor — in this case, much higher. His voice and countenance were spellbinding. After intermission came a six-movement piece retelling the myth of Hades’ kidnapping of Proserpina, highlighting the part where Cyane the water nymph attempts to stop it, and analogizing that image with the similar tragic image of Rachel Corrie, who was killed as she sat in the path of a bulldozer on its way to flatten Palestinian houses in the Gaza Strip. A compelling and poignant analogy.
Gramma, Jenny, Marshall, Eric Rivera and I ate dinner beforehand at Cilantro, a Mexican/Southwest cuisine restaurant. The food was great. Susan was able to stop by the restaurant briefly to wolf down some food. Then we walked over to the concert nearby. In summary, a great time was had by all!
Here’s an interesting column that I have a feeling most people will disagree with because it’s so "academic" and theoretical, about why working class white males have been increasingly choosing Hillary. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/09/opinion/09faludi.html

Fox news has reported on the John Edwards story.

that’s terrible– is it worth making an insurance claim? did you report it to the police?

Auntie Sue, will they start shedding when they get a little older? We really haven’t had a lot of hair around so far.
Dad: that is the cutest picture ever. Where is it? Are there more??!!!!
Those are very cute kitty photos, but are any of them as cute as this one of the two sleepyheads?

this is a really funny blog– "how not to act old."
oh, duh, I guess everybody else read it already but thanks for letting me know (this is the kind of comment I find makes blogs boring)
Geez Mom, talk about ancient news.
I did love "world of world of warcraft," and the reporter video.
Obama girl didn’t vote.
Mom and I just watched it and it is really funny.
Ok, here is one of the funniest Onion videos I’ve ever seen:
‘Warcraft’ Sequel Lets Gamers Play a Character Playing ‘Warcraft’

Hahaha, this video is hilarious. Note: lots of cursing in it. But the best is when you restart it after watching it once.

Great blog post by Paul Begala. Must-read.
Here’s a blog post by Paul Begala I really liked about Hillary.
Darned college kids, always thinking that they can be somebody and change the world!
