I was lucky to have grown up in a place with no light pollution. I do remember being amazed at all the stars, especially in the winter. I also enjoyed the northern lights and miss them.
There’s a super interesting article about light pollution in the New Yorker magazine, but it’s not available online. It’s depressing how few really dark places there are to really see stars — especially for us on the East Coast.
Wow.
I’d encourage people to follow Marshall’s link, because it gives a larger photo along with identification of several stars & planets. The terrain below is the Grand Tetons in Wyoming.
One funny note in the link is that it says “Scrolling to the far right,…” So I wanted to scroll to the far right, by clicking on the word ’scrolling’. Try it.
