here’s a commercial for Dr. Pepper that i really like:

I feel like it’s a weird thing about me that i really appreciate good commercials. I find it so interesting how they have to be funny, or emotional, or whatever in 30 seconds, and try to sell you something while they’re at it. Not to mention that you’re automatically averse to watching the commercial, because you’d rather be watching your program. Anyway, are there any funny commercials or campaigns that you guys can think of?

Susan I have seen the ad with your friends sister. I like the ad. I also liked some of the super bowl ads. The video game one for Coke was good and I also liked the shirtless guys washing the car. I had the game on but was doing other things so wasn’t paying that much attention. I usually don’t watch at all but the first minute was exciting so I kept it on.
My friend’s sister is in a commercial. Has anyone ever seen the one where this black guy with dreads is sitting in a cubicle, and he opens a card, and it starts playing “Wild Thing”? Then another woman stands up in her cubicle and gives him a sly smile, and then eventually they realize everyone’s looking at them? Anyway, that woman is my friend Lais’s sister.
I liked the K-Fed ad for sheer laughability. I also like the kid singing the Oscar Meyer song. You youngsters won’t remember that one.
My dog was in an ad for a hospital. She laid on a kitchen table and ate Captain Crunch out of a box while a cat ran by, followed by a kid, and then the mother walked in and said,”I like things to be under control” or something like that. It took all day, what with the tail scattering the cereal, the cat, the kid and the actor.
Did anybody see any of the Super Bowl ads? We were at a party watching but didn’t really watch - people were talking and it was hard to pay attention. But I liked the video game one, I think it was for Coke. We did comment on how much violence there were in the ads and wondered why Here’s an interesting article about them, linking the violence to the war. The article also reminded me of another great ad– the Coke ad for “I’d like to teach the world to sing.” That has to be one of the all-time greatest ads.
Years ago Schick had one with a little guy, using a Schick razor as a sled, riding down a hill. I really liked that one. I also liked the one of the guy dancing in his under shorts.
I also love evaluating commercials and really appreciating good ones. Some of the Geico ones are really good, and has anyone seen the Snickers (I think) one, with the guy singing “prancing nougat in the middle sings a song of satisfaction to the world”? It’s so great.
I can’t really think of any of my favorites right now, but I can definitely think of some universally annoying things in commercials, like little kids, EVER. I’ll keep my eyes open.
Yeah Geico has had creative ad campaigns for a long time, i wonder who does it for them. It’s really hard to make a commercial with like a serious message. Here’s a great serious one i remember from when I was little, and looked itu p and it’s on youtube. It stars the king of all commercials, MJ himself:

I like the Geico ads and I admit that I sometimes tear up during the Hallmark ones.
I posted this one on the blog over a year ago (Jan 13 2006), but it is such a great commercial that it’s worth watching again: AltaVista’s commercial for their search engine, starring Gary Kasparov. In the final seconds it’s a little hard to read the question typed into the search engine, which is, “How can I beat Kasparov’s Evans Gambit?”
