Colbert blasts Bush at White House Correspondent’s dinner by Susan on April 30, 2006 at 1:42 pm

Just read the article. Stephen Colbert is absolutely hilarious. His entire nightly show is conducted satirically - his character is a parody of a right-wing commentator. He apparently gave his talk at the correspondent’s dinner in character, saying things like Bush should ignore his low approval ratings because they were based on reality, “and reality has a well-known liberal bias.”

Apparently Bush was not amused.

UPDATE: transcript here. More links here.

The Godfather by Susan on April 23, 2006 at 2:27 pm

This is a continuation of the Godfather discussion in “breaking news.”

Ev, did you watch it on AMC? I watched I and part of II yesterday, which was the inspiration. I don’t really remember Robert DeNiro’s character (didn’t get that far), so my vote might change if I watched II again.

On one hand, Michael is obviously awesome for the reasons everyone said (and I voted for him). On the other hand, Vito has an actual, likeable personality. If I had to pick one of them to hang out with, it would definitely be Vito. Michael’s personality is so flat, and we don’t ever really see him laughing or having fun. So, now that I’m thinking about it, maybe I will change my vote. Then again, I guess “endearing” isn’t really a quality we value in our mob leaders.

Saigon Traffic by Jon on at 7:28 pm

I thought that Cairo traffic was really bad, and it was, but take a look at this video clip of Saigon traffic.  The first 60 seconds or so are tolerable, but then the cross-traffic comes through.  Wait until about 20 seconds after the big bus turns.  Yikes!!

My Wall by Marshall on at 7:08 pm

I figured with all the exciting news around I’ve give some of my own!

I have a white wall! It blocks 100% of UV rays. I marvel at the pattern on the wall.

Eyes, take 2 by Susan on at 2:48 pm

I just tried to post some pictures, but it got all messed up. Does anyone know why this is?

Anyway, Arastu got contacts today for the first time ever. It’s very funny watching him marvel at the world.

I also got a nice pair of sunglasses with ultra UV-blocking lenses.

I thought we could all take this test about our political leanings.  I took it but I’ll reveal my score after someone else does.

Your Mom was going to fix it so i would have a better view of him from my house since I am caring for him while they are in Chicago and at Auntie Sue’s.  i think the view isn’t as good though.
