Random thoughts about the blog by Susan on at 4:15 pm

(1) Does anyone think we should change the name of the blog? I’m sort of embarrassed to check it all the time in public. Even just “Tedder blog” or something. Any suggestions?

(2) I updated the family dates page.

(3) I think we should either make more categories and use them, or get rid of them. Most blogs use like 10-20 categories equally so you can find old posts. Maybe some of our categories should be “cool random stuff,” “politics,” “family news,” “Dad’s wacky photoshopping,” etc. Then again, it sort of seems like no one uses the categories anyway. What does everyone think?

Ohio legislator calls for barring Republicans from adopting by Susan on at 1:02 pm

In response to a bill barring gay adoption in Ohio, Democratic State Sen. Robert Hagan introduced his own version, which would prohibit Republicans from adopting. Responding to supposed “scientific evidence” that kids are worse off in homes with gay adults, Hagan wrote in his own proposal that “credible research” shows that adopted children raised in Republican households are more at risk for developing “emotional problems, social stigmas, inflated egos, and alarming lack of tolerance for others they deem different than themselves and an air of overconfidence to mask their insecurities.”

About the Poll by suzys on February 23, 2006 at 6:28 pm

Note to the individual who would use the $1500 to go to a fat farm:

If you have a beautiful Labrador no one will notice that you’re fat.

I hope.

Cirque du Soleil by Susan on at 2:48 pm

Cirque du Soleil comes to NY again in late April to mid-May with Corteo. (Since I’m on their email list, I get early notice, or something; if we buy them soon, we can get discounted tickets.)

Watch the preview here.

So?

More super cool stuff by Marshall on at 12:37 pm

http://www.newscientist.com/channel/info-tech/mg18925405.700.html

“A New Scientist article relates how its possible to get answers from a quantum computer even when your program isn’t running.” From the article: “With the right set-up, the theory suggested, the computer would sometimes get an answer out of the computer even though the program did not run. And now researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have improved on the original design and built a non-running quantum computer that really works.”

So, I was going to write a post about graduation, but instead I created a wiki.

The password is wikiwiki, which you need to edit. (I hope people will!)

OUR OPINION: Silent Cheney wounds himself
We miss Bill Clinton. But that’s not because we’re partisan Democrats, because we miss Ronald Reagan, too. What we miss from both Clinton and Reagan was their breathtaking skill at politics. Both men brought the same gift to politics that Fred Astaire brought to dance: They made it look easy. So easy, in fact, that Americans forget just how difficult politics can be - until a graceless politician stumbles on the “dance floor” and crashes in an embarrassing fall.

Dick Cheney by Aunt Julie on February 13, 2006 at 2:10 pm

There’s so much to say about Dick Cheney accidentally shooting his hunting partner that I don’t know where to begin. So my only comment is this: My friend Sue was a Virginia Fish & Game officer. That means she had all the training and authority of a state police officer, except that she did not have investigative powers. (I am not sure exactly what that means.) Sue said that if the Cheney incident had happened on her watch here in Virginia, she would have charged him with negligence. There is no excuse for that accident to have happened.

I guess that’s all I’m going to say right now. I’m riled up about a bunch of political things at the moment and I need to settle down.
