The time has finally arrived. Evan has flown the coop to University of Vermont, and we are officially Empty Nesters.

Although many of us might say such a thing figuratively, (say, on Nov. 3, 04,) today I was literally shit upon, by a seagull. In other words, I went to the beach today!
Tomorrow I’m going to practice piano, go food shopping at the coop, make zucchini bread and some other dishes, research fellowships for after law school, and hopefully buy a grill and some lawn furniture. Right now, after finishing a bottle of wine whilst chatting on the patio, Arastu and I will watch some episodes of Six Feet Under.
So, this is why I haven’t really been posting. I have nothing of value to say. But, as you can hopefully garner, my vacation has been great!

P.S. Does anyone know of any uses for ricotta besides stuffed shells/ rolled eggplant?
Tomorrow (Thursday) we take Evvie up to University of Vermont. He moves in on Friday. On Saturday we leave Burlington. Evvie will be on his own and his life is in his own hands. I’m worried but also hopeful that he will find his energy through the joys of academia.
I hope Marshall applies his superior learning skills to political science and economics and Susan is fulfilled in her capital punishment clinic and other activities.
I went to the Cindy Sheehan vigil downtown — it was huge. Here is a photo from Princeton Drinking Liberally I’m in the bottom left. I took some photos but haven’t unloaded them from my camera yet.

Today when Evvie was interning for the prosecutor’s office in court, the public defender didn’t show up. So Evvie was the public defender. For each case he got the documents and went up to the judge and told the judge what the charges were or something like that. The judge told him he was the best public defender all month.
Usually he helps the prosecutor get records and sometimes types up reports and things like that.
Meanwhile, Susan’s internship at the public defender’s office is over. She worked at the county public defender, while Evvie worked at the Trenton municipal court. Maybe Susan will write about her summer!!
To prove that we are patriotic, I created a bumper sticker just for President George W. Bush.

I wonder if a thoughtful bumper sticker could slowly turn the tide by nudging Bushites into thinking about the issues.

Never let it be said that our president does not answer the call of duty.

It is Auntie Sue’s 45th birthday today. Happy birthday Suzy.
